223/nato Has anyone heard of Adco (?) ammo company. Sportsman's guide has them for a so-so price and i NEED to stock up a bit..
I think it would be a good idea to keep a listing of types of 223/nato ammo to buy and stay away from and who has the best price at the time...........sound like a good permanent slot????
for instance, does everyone know that no manufacturer that I have checked out recommends using Wolf 223...? Oly Arms is fiercely against it..........partially due to the laquer coating that can dry up and jamm up the works.....

I have put 1000's of rounds of wolf through AR's with not one problem. A friend of mine has a full size M-16 type AR that all that it eats is wolf, he estimates over 10,000 rounds have gone through it and can count on one hand ftf and fte's. I have how ever heard of the cases "blowing" up while in battery. I've never had it happen or seen it happen.
That being said I think for cheap stuff I've shot PMC when they used to be cheap, Samson when they were still around and military surp. For varmits I use the WWB varmit rounds.

Adco or Adcom? Adcom is a ammo manufacture. Adco is a dealer for AR15 parts.
If referring to ADCOM M855, it is decent stuff. I've had good results but have heard of some very bad dealings with them (split necks, blown primers, etc..)

Yep, I guess its Adcom..........I think these are the guys who have innovated the use of polymer material replacement for the brass too....?.........thanks, Z ??? Don't know if I want to try this stuff............. :?

Yea... I don't care for the Wolf polymer either. The Wolf M193 is a decent round though.

No I mean that Adcom is manufacturing a casing that is made from a polymer type material instead of all brass. only the base is brass.........

Yeah from what I've heard it's not that great. I won't be switching any time soon. Unless it's a drastic price difference and it's reliable.

It is not only the brass some primers ae hard primers. If you have a weak trigger spring it won't set off the primers.

A lot of the surplus ammo is very hot, cratered and blown primers are commonplace. This is not a real concern for me, I've fired a lot of different rounds, I can never tell when a neck splits or primer ruptures, it just cycles on through.
I'v had the best luck with my reloads, I load the M-193 and M-855 spec rounds, plus the tracer equivelant, all work real good.
I bought one box of the polymer cased rounds for eval, couldn't tell the difference between them and a regular round, so I stayed all brass.
Wolf works for me too.
I think a lot of AR troubles can be traced to the chamber profile, I always use a 5.56mm spec chamber, the commercial .223 chamber is tighter for increased accuracy, but it can sometimes cut down the reliability.

I really liked Wolf too until I started reading the info from the Oly Arms. My AR's have shot it fine, but funny that my AK froze up when the laquer dried because I didn't clean it right away. I had to take a tourch to it and warm it up. That was about the worst thing that happened. I think they have changed some of that laquering since all the bad press came out about the ammo......It also seemed to be relatively clean burning powder and accurat. I'll try a mix this weekend. I agree with the 5.56 chambering. I know my Oly is. I have to check the others.......Bought them before I knew the difference.....

That's what Oly Arms is saying, what I'm trying to figure out is WHAT IS good ammo and can we keep a running list of what it is and where to get the best deals on it............ :?
