To Have vs. To apply - good instincts
So there's not really another forum for this so I figured I'd put it here? Today at my store I had four AAFs come in. All four had loose coats and one had a backpack on. I immediately start watching the one with the backpack however she stays with the group and they meet up in a place in my store where one female can make an arc while scoping and the other three can maneuver around free from being spotted. The spotter also seemed to be going into infants clothing and back into her search pattern. After about 15 minutes of this they head to the check-outs. Three leave immediately and one buys a package of underwear; while following the girl with the backpack again I notice it seems slightly larger than when she came in. I run to where they were moving around and find one empty disney babies item and one empty package of panties. I ask the associate working the area and she says that the women's underwear hadn't been straightened all day. My boss comes over (he had been watching another group) and sees the packages and asks if I want to stop them as they're outside waiting on a bus. I VERY MUCH wanted to stop them, however, I didn't seee them selecting or concealing any merchandise so I say NO based on this. Later on that night another store associate who saw the group in the store said she rides the bus with two of the ladies and that they brag about stealing from my store all the time. In addition to this I found a number of empty underwear packages in the disney babies section. I guess I made the wrong call against my instincts. Does this happen to anyone else? I feel like a Farva

welcome to the Law Enforcement side of the law. Happens all the time but evan criminals have rights. You have know Idea how many times I wanted to kick in doors or stop some one but the you can thank the bleeding heart liberals and the a.c.l.u. for their couragous fight in crime prevention. You made the right decision. If they were inocent they probaly would have sued you or guilty some lawyer would sue your for invadeing their rights to steal from you.

Sooner or later they'll get what's coming to them. They will go from stealing underwear to stealing jewelry to stealing guns to robbing stores to getting killed in a heist somewhere or getting gunned down in a dope deal.

they brag about stealing from my store all the time They'll be back. I would start to get the cops, lawyers, etc. Involved now. Tell them you have a witness that has heard them say they steal all the time. Then get them put away for a longer amount of time when you do catch them.

I have had people run in and steal stuff right in front of me, but if you can not prove exactly what they stole and a perfect description it doesn't matter. Plus the police aren't comming to the rescue of stolen merchandise from my store in any hurry! We had a group steal some stuff then run a red light to get away which inevidelatly ended up in a huge wreck directly in front of the store. We are not allowed to chase the criminals, but we have once, we caught the guy and got the compressor back(that's right a huge compressor). Needless to say the guy didn't make it too far with a 75 pound compressor on his shoulder in a crowded parking lot.
